BYO keys vs managed inference: how HIIE billing works
HIIE bills two ways: bring your own provider key and runs are free and unmetered, or use managed inference metered with credits. Credits only apply to HIIE-managed infrastructure.
Adding your OpenRouter or Composio key to run for free
Add your OpenRouter or Composio key in the encrypted per-user vault (Connections → Credentials). An active OpenRouter key flags your account BYO, making runs unmetered and free.
The plan catalog: Free, Starter, Pro, and Scale
Four plans: Free (BYO) at $0, Starter $20/1,400 cr, Pro $99/6,930 cr, and Scale $150/10,500 cr. Paid plans grant credits at price x 100 x 0.70.
How credits map to dollars and the platform margin
One credit equals $0.01 of actual inference value. A 30% platform margin is taken once at grant (credits = price x 100 x 0.70); usage then bills at true cost.
Buying a one-time credit top-up that never expires
One-time credit top-ups never expire and come in three packs: $10/700, $25/1,750, and $100/7,000 credits. Bought via Stripe; same 30% margin as plans.
Free-tier limits: the monthly inference ceiling and 2 free premium 3D generations
Free tier caps managed inference at $2/month (200 credits) and includes 2 premium Meshy generations per month (75 credits each, failures refunded). The build123d engine has no count cap; BYO keys are exempt.
The tighter programmatic (API/MCP) spend sub-cap on the free tier
On the free tier, API/MCP calls get a tighter $0.20/month managed-inference sub-cap inside the main $2 pool. BYO callers and paid tiers are exempt.
Reading your balance, ledger, and usage history
Your Account hub shows balance (credits + USD), API budget vs cap, CAD usage, a transaction ledger, and an account-wide usage summary with a per-model cost breakdown.
Upgrading to a paid plan with Stripe checkout
Upgrading opens a confirmation gate then a Stripe Checkout. On success, the Stripe webhook grants your plan's monthly credits idempotently and returns you to the dashboard.
What happens to your access when you downgrade to Free
Downgrading to Free takes effect at the end of the current cycle, so you keep your paid plan until then. After that, Free limits apply, but top-up credits never expire.
Why your BYO runs show as $0 in the ledger
An active OpenRouter key flags your account BYO, so inference runs on your key and posts as $0 in the ledger, without drawing managed credits or hitting free-tier ceilings.
