Approving a capacity top-up when a request exceeds your monthly limit
If a request to Camelia would push you past your monthly managed-inference capacity, HIIE doesn't silently fail or stop — it raises a capacity Human Input Popup (HIP) so you can decide how to proceed.
When it appears
Managed inference runs draw down your monthly capacity. When a request would exceed that capacity, the capacity HIP surfaces as a top-up prompt. It's the system's way of telling you the work you asked for needs more room than your current allotment has left.
What you can do
From the prompt you can add capacity (a top-up) so the request can continue. Top-ups are one-time additions that don't expire, which means added capacity stays available until you use it rather than resetting at the end of the cycle. The prompt also notes you can connect your own provider key under Connections to run free instead.
Who sees it
This gate is about managed-inference capacity. If you're bringing your own provider key, your runs are unmetered and show as free, so you aren't drawing down managed capacity in the same way. Accounts flagged as unlimited bypass balance and quota limits entirely. For everyone on metered managed inference, the capacity HIP is the checkpoint before more capacity is spent.
Why it's a gate
Spending money is a hard, blocking decision, so it's handled as a true gate rather than an automatic charge. You stay in control of when additional capacity is added, and like all HIPs it's shown to you one at a time so the choice is always clear and deliberate.
