How to sign in to HIIE with Clerk at /connect
HIIE uses Clerk for sign-in and sign-up. Signed-out visitors land on the /connect page, which renders Clerk's sign-in component; there is also a /sign-up route for new accounts.
Signing in
Go to /connect and complete Clerk's sign-in flow. Once authenticated, you're redirected to /dashboard. New accounts follow the same path: after sign-up you also land on /dashboard.
If you're already signed in and navigate to /connect directly, HIIE forwards you straight to your dashboard, so there's no need to sign in twice.
What's protected
Clerk middleware guards the authenticated areas of the app. Routes like /dashboard, /account, /settings, and any per-project path (for example /<projectId>/canvas) require an active Clerk session. If you hit one of those while signed out, you're redirected to the sign-in page at /connect.
Public pages — the marketing site, /about, /token, the knowledge base, and a handful of others — stay open without sign-in.
A note on identity
Your name and email come from Clerk and are shown read-only inside HIIE. There is no crypto wallet or external login scheme — Clerk handles authentication, and that's the single way in. If you ever need to update your profile identity, you do it through Clerk rather than in-app.
After you're in
From the dashboard you can create your first project and start describing what you want to build. Camelia, HIIE's AI copilot, takes it from there.
