What Meshy text-to-3D can and cannot model
The premium Meshy text-to-3D path is powerful for the right kind of object, and HIIE's due-diligence engine (planCad) encodes exactly what it can and can't do so your request is shaped to succeed.
What Meshy can model
Meshy generates ONE physical object per generation, rendered as a single realistic, textured mesh:
- Products, enclosures, tools, brackets, housings, figurines, furniture, wearables.
- Organic, sculpted, and freeform shapes — a real strength of this path.
- Assembled-looking forms (a drone with arms and rotors, a lamp with shade and base), as long as the result reads as one fused object.
A generation runs in the background for about 5 minutes and archives a textured GLB (web viewing) plus a printable STL into your Design folder; HIIE's generation settings target printable meshes.
What Meshy cannot produce
- B-rep STEP files — Meshy outputs meshes (GLB/STL/3MF-class formats), not parametric CAD. When you need a manufacturing-grade STEP for a factory or CAD software, use the HIIE (build123d) Engine.
- Exact tolerances and dimensions — the mesh is realistic, not dimensioned to the millimeter. Don't rely on it for press fits or machined parts.
- True multi-part assemblies — separate, articulated parts should be generated one object at a time.
How the planner helps
When your idea is a whole system or scene, the due-diligence engine picks the single most valuable object to model first, tightens loose descriptions into a Meshy-optimized prompt, and discloses the assumptions it made. It only asks you a question when the idea is too vague to identify an object at all.
