Why your name and email are read-only (managed by Clerk)
On your Account page you'll notice that your name and email are displayed but can't be edited in the form. That's by design: identity is managed by Clerk, HIIE's authentication provider.
Where your identity comes from
HIIE uses Clerk for sign-in and sign-up. You sign in at /connect, and after authentication you land on /dashboard. Your name and email shown in the account area are read directly from your Clerk profile, not stored as editable HIIE fields.
What that means for editing
Because identity is sourced from Clerk, name and email are read-only inside HIIE. The editable preferences in Settings are limited to organization, timezone, language/locale, default model, and the two privacy toggles (Platform learning and Auto-approve integrations). To change your name or email, you'd manage that through your Clerk identity rather than the HIIE Settings form.
Why route it through Clerk
Centralizing identity in Clerk keeps a single source of truth for who you are across the platform. Route protection is enforced by Clerk middleware, and your email is also what support uses to reach you — when you submit the Help & Support contact form while signed in, your Clerk email is attached server-side so the team can reply.
In short
Name and email come from Clerk and are shown read-only; everything else in Settings is yours to edit. Profile fields like organization and timezone will even prefill from your browser when they're unset.
